What I Learned

  • to have mental clarity (singular thinking) & focus (like a bow-and-arrow)

  • to be orderly, organized & systematic (like a librarian)

  • keep sharpening

CIVIL PROCEDURE

What I Learned:

  • the rules of war / the rules of the game

  • strategy; chess-play

  • to be Alpha (really, more like a civilized gangster)

TORTS

What I Learned:

  • to be objectively reasonable

  • liability (not be frivolous)

  • $$$

CRIMINAL LAW

What I Learned:

  • the importance of mens rea (the mental state)

  • evil v. ignorance v. mistake

What I Learned:

  • keep on sharpening

    • your work-product is never done and certainly never at a point of perfection but you make your strongest case 

  • tie up loose ends by seeing and addressing both sides

CONSTITUTIONAL STRUCTURE

What I Learned:​

  • We the People, for the People, of the People

    • public healthy, safety and welfare rules

  • federalism v. state sovereignty

    • privileges and immunities​

 

CONTRACTS

What I Learned:

  • "too bad so sad" - read the T&Cs

  • let it be expressly known to the world what you want

  • no punitive damages

PROPERTY

What I Learned:

  • you have the right to exclude all others from the enjoyment and use of your property

  • property rights and protections must not violate constitutional protections / nothing capricious and arbitrary applies
